What motivated you to become a trustee of Colostomy UK and how did that come about?
Being now semi-retired I had some extra time that I wanted to use to contribute to a successful voluntary organisation that is making a difference.
What do you think you have to offer to the charity as a trustee?
I have 40+ years of HR experience across a number of different organisations with a particular interest in governance.
Why do you think charities matter?
Charities provide a meaningful way to make a difference and allow the provision of essential services to individuals and communities.
What advice would you give to someone who is thinking of becoming a trustee.
If you have the time, then do it. It‘s a great way to “give something back”.
What’s the one thing you were fearful of in becoming a trustee?
When I first became a Trustee I would say it was around how quickly I could get to grips with the operations of the Charity, but being part of good teams has helped enormously with this.
