How can I ‘Get Active’ and take part?

Many of our supporters set themselves a physical challenge for Step Up for Stomas, as it is a fantastic opportunity to get fit while raising funds for a good cause. We have tried to come up with enough ideas to ensure there is something for everyone – however we encourage you to make this challenge your own!

Take on our 200,000 step challenge. Walk, run, hop or skip 200,000 steps over the month (that’s 6,600 steps a day), one for every person who could benefit from our support.

Here are some more ideas to take part in Step Up for Stomas, Active April based around the numbers 20 and 200

  • Walk, run, hop or skip 200,000 steps over the month (that’s 6,600 steps a day), one for every person who could benefit from our support.
  • For the more active perhaps covering 200,000 km or 200,000 miles during the month might feel more of a challenge? You could do this as as part of a group and share the steps/distance!

Are steps not for you? Get creative and come up with your own challenge to step up for the 200,000+ people that will benefit from our support:

  • Commit to doing 200 squats, lunges or crunches every day in April
  • Stretch yourself with 200 minutes of Pilates or yoga each week (that’s less than half an hour a day)
  • Enjoy a 20 minute daily walk, swim or dance each day of April
  • 200 Jump rope skips a day – great for those with busy lives who still want to take part
  • Climb 20 flights of stairs – Climb 20 flights of stairs every day of April
  • Keep your mind active by writing 200 short stories, or creating 200 works of art during April
  • 200 Steps Every Hour – Stay active by walking at least 200 steps every waking hour each day of April
  • 2000 Steps a Day Extra – Increase your daily step count by 2000 more than usual
