Caring for a person with a stoma

Colostomy UK have been delivering ‘caring for a person with a stoma’ workshops online and in the community since 2015.

Our workshop is aimed at anyone who looks after someone with any type of stoma to provide practical advice and guidance on stoma care.  It covers all the basics, such as:

  • The basics of supporting a person with a stoma
  • Understanding stoma formation and anatomy
  • Types of bags and how to change them
  • Stoma related challenges
  • Patient concerns and lifestyle adjustments
  • Physical and psychological issues connected with having a stoma
  • Q&A with a stoma nurse

The online workshop is delivered by a qualified and experienced practicing stoma care nurse over a 90-minute interactive session.

On completion of the workshop and completing a short feedback form, each attendee will receive a Colostomy UK certificate of completion.
